FIGHT LIKE A GIRL 2020 - BREAST CANCER WALK
There are many people who have lost the fight against Breast Cancer and to honor those we have lost, every year House of P0P Foundation brings together a group of women who have continue to support women who are survivors, women who have lost someone, women who are currently fighting against this illness and provide support and financial support in paying medical bills when needed. This year the funds went to support a woman from Kraja who was diagnosed and fighting Breast Cancer. Sometimes the recipients do not want their identify to be published and we like to honor everyone’s wishing. Every donation counted and everyone’s heart felt well wishes brought an even bigger fight that granted her strength and I am happy to share the woman is presently in remission.
Not everyone is lucky and some lost the fight. Some of the women who participated in this event have lost their mother, aunt, sister. grandmother or someone close to them. Coming together is the best way to provide support and show those who have gained their wings that we will continue this fight on their behalf and we will always remember their courage and strength.
Supplies purchased and Donated to Tutoring by Christine as part of House of P0P ongoing efforts to help in the importance of education.
Self-esteem is how much people value themselves and how important they believe they are in their world. Do you overthink? Are you stuck in your stubborn negative thinking patterns? Do you notice that your negative thoughts impact your self-esteem? One of the most significant aspects of building self-esteem is to think positively. Though this is easier said than done, with minor insight into your own mind, thinking patterns, and motivation to change you too can adjust these patterns in
order to become a more positive thinker. Students’ self-esteem is directly related to their school performance. By ensuring that students self-esteem is healthy the learning environment becomes one where education thrives.
Our nation’s brilliance and ability to prosper is directly dependent upon our peoples’ education.Education makes an individual develop personality socially as well as economically. Education will impact young students’ development in life; unfortunately some families cannot afford school supplies. But, as a community, by placing school bags containing essential school supplies into the hands of children, we are only directing them towards success because we are giving them the important tools necessary for success. Students who are ill prepared from day one have very little hope for a promising school year, lacking the confidence and self-esteem needed due to the shame and embarrassment of their unlucky life circumstances.
Back to school is a new traditional holiday and a great time to give back and ensure every child enters a new school year happy and confident in their ability to Succeed.
Sunset Yoga and Sangria has been an ongoing project between women who are about health and wellness in their participating of bring awareness to the importance of Mental Health. Every Monday at 7pm groups would gather to take part in a yoga class led by TonyAnn “you can find her on IG @toni.yogasoul “ who lead the class and taught us all how to breathe and relax.
An ongoing project which takes place every summer in Staten Island at Gateway Park.
Every child should have the opportunity to celebrate the holidays and experiences happiness. Having volunteered and helped with an event that focused on the local family shelter Project Hospitality has been a beautiful experience full of smiles.
Project Hospitality has provided Food and Nutrition services through Soup Kitchens and Food Pantries. But over the years they have grown in the community and have grown to include outreach & Education, volunteer services, help center, healthy family program, senior health & wellness services. Life continues to progress and move forward but there are those who need help and as a community we must expand our good deeds and help those in need.
That little pink ribbon seems to pop up everywhere these day. With Sports teams, organizations, and foundations all behind it. Well, HELL YES Why NOT? October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which calls attention to the condition that one in every eight women will face throughout their lifetime. Breast Cancer remains one of the most challenging illnesses, America’s biopharmaceutical companies have made substantial progress in recent decades towards finding effective treatments. This progress is a result of all the fundraising efforts of many people throughout the year, but especially the month of October.
Some key points about breast cancer are as follows:
· Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women
· Symptoms include a lump or thickening of the breast, and changes to the skin or the nipple.
· Risk factors can be genetic, but some lifestyle factors, such as alcohol intake, make it more likely to occur.
· Peeling, flaking, or scaling of the skin on the breast or nipple.
· Pain in the armpits or breast that does not change with the monthly cycle.
· Treatment is available, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
All of the above points are important and treatment is costly, but together we can help one another fight through and help raise money for Mammograms, ultrasound scans, and MRI scans that will help detect any lumps or abnormalities.
On September 30, 2018, a group of women got together to Brunch for Boobies and show Cancer how girls really fight. We don’t give up, we don’t give in, and we certainly do not allow one another to feel alone in a battle that each and every one of us is impacted directly or indirectly. The phrase Fight Like a Girl means so much more than people believe.
Thank you Riviera Mediterranean Cousin for hosting our “Brunch for Boobies” and allowing us to raise money to help support the fight against Breast Cancer. Other donors such as Stop & Shop, Starbucks, Acker Merrall & Condit Company, and Mitchel et Augustin for the Raffle baskets. Give Me Some Sugar table was courtesy of Artisan of Cupcakes, Twisted Tees Onesies, and other vendors. Big Shot’s Bar and Grill, everyone who attended the Brunch and everyone who was unable to attend but donated, truly grateful for your generosity.

Every year in April, House of P0P Foundation hosts the a softball game to help support Autism. This year, HOP hosted its 2nd Annual Softball Game and support poured from everyone who found out about the amazing even that goes towards support programs for children in low income families through MyAutims. Some may ask “What is Autism?” Autism is known as a complex developmental disability. According to experts, autism presents itself during the first three years of a person’s life. Autism is a wide-spectrum disorder and no two people with autism have the same exact symptoms. Some people have mild symptoms while others have severe ones. But this only means that our responsibility is only increasing in helping make a difference in the world and helping everyone made to feels equal and special.
Everyone feels worried or anxious from time to time. But relatively few people develop a mental illness. One may ask what’s the difference? A metal illness is a mental health condition that gets in the way of thinking, and day-to-day functions. Some of the mental illnesses that have been identified and defined include depression, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, and many more. However, there is a stigma behind mental health illnesses and many go untreated. The same as any physical issue, mental illness is an equal opportunity issue. All are affected, young, old, male, female, every race, ethnic background, education level, and income level. The great news is that the same as physical health, mental illness can often be treated.
Individuals fighting the battle with mental illness can often ease their symptoms and feel better by simply talking with a therapist and following a treatment plan that may or may not include medication.
This year’s support came from Family Members, Friends, Neighbors, and Charity Organizations. LTR Motor Sports Motorcycle School and Carmine's Cigars continue to show enormous support.
The Battle is Far from Over and WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED.
